Jasmine Rose is a visual artist, designer, techie, entrepreneur. Her work explores black American visual culture in the form of collage, Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) and experimental video.
Largely the work encompasses the ethereal beauty and essence of black American beauty and culture through a sociopolitical lens. Many of the collages and video reflect an interest in a specific type of black American visual culture: commercial beauty, fashion, product advertising and marketing of the 1960s.
Each work takes on a life of its own through bold use of color, layers, subject matter, imagery and overall composition. Her more recent work explores and challenges the dichotomy between self and topics surrounding black American family life.
Jasmine currently lives and works in Washington, DC.
